Ans: Main imitates the others. Individuals and groups
want to follow the lifestyle and behavior of another. When the lifestyle and
behavior of one group is imitated by another group then it is called reference
group.
3. Define caste. 2
Ans: Caste is a social group based on birth in Hindu
society. It can be defined as a particular group or community based purely on
heredity.
4. Mention two features of primary group. 2
Ans: Two features of primary group: -
(i) Primary
groups are generally small in size, being small in size there is a close and
close relationship between the members.
(ii) Primary
groups are based on common objectives and interests. The members of the primary
group interact face to face and take care of each other.
5. What are the two types of culture? 2
Ans: (i) material culture, (ii) non-material culture.
6. Mention two methods of Sociological studies. 2
Ans: Two methods of sociological study:-
(i) Observation,
(ii) Social Survey.
7. Differentiate between norms and value. 2
Ans: Social Norms: It refers to the socially accepted
principle or way of life that guides the activity and behavior of the people.
It is generally acceptable to maximum number of people in a society.
Social Values:
Social values can be defined as measures of goodness or desirability. It
refers to the moral and religious values, attitudes, beliefs that are attached
to social relations.
8. Mention two functions of family. 2
Ans: Two functions of family:-
(i)
Reproductive Function: The family fulfils the biological needs of a man and
a woman.
(ii)
Maintenance: The family maintains and takes care of all the members of the
family.
9. What do you mean by social control? 2
Ans: Social control is an essential condition of
human society. Society cannot exist without social control. Society cannot
function properly without proper exercise of social control.
10. What are the types of co-operation? - Mention. 2
Ans: Five types of cooperation can be usefully
distinguished: automatic, traditional, contractual, directed and spontaneous.
