1. What increases continuously in 'A Thing of Beauty'? Exam paper - 2018

Ans: The beauty or beauty of an object increases continuously. Its beauty never fades or turns into nothingness.

2. According to Keats, what will 'keep' for us?

Ans: An object of beauty is a source of constant pleasure. It keeps the shade of trees ready for us to stay comfortable and peaceful. Beautiful things also provide peace and security so that we can enjoy a sound sleep. It is because of them that we can enjoy sweet dreams and good health.

3. What do we do every morning?

Ans: As a result of all the beautiful things around us, every morning we are weaving a garland of flowers to bind us to the beauty of the earth despite all the sorrows.

4. What 'takes away the pain' in our lives?

Ans: Man makes his life miserable and full of sufferings due to his deeds. The shadow of despair is the sadness that is the result of one's own actions. An object of beauty works wonders for man and removes the veil of sadness from his moist souls.

5. What does 'Clear Reel' do for you?

Ans: The 'clear streams' or clear streams of water form a cooling cover or passage for themselves when they pass through dense bushes and drive away the heat of the sun.

6. Quiet pool for us, and sleep. Full of sweet dreams and health and calm breathing.'

(i) 'What does Bower suggest here'?

(ii) What does "Sleep! Full of sweet dreams" refer to?

Ans: (i) Here 'bower' suggests a pleasant place in the shade under a tree.

(ii) ".... Sleep! Sleep full of sweet dreams" signifies sweet dreams and peaceful sleep. It takes us to a world of peace and tranquillity where our weary soul gets a touch of healing.

7. What does the poet Keats want us to keep away from his 'despair'?

Ans: To keep our gloom at bay, Keats wants us to be in close touch with the beauty of nature because it is never less or less. Man makes his life miserable by his deeds, but any form of beauty works wonders and removes the pull of despair from our dark souls.
