two consequences of the end of the Cold War.
Ans:- The
consequences of the end of the Cold War were:
(i) Hostilities
between the US and the Soviet Union ceased.
(ii) The Soviet
Union disintegrated.
(iii) The end of
the Cold War meant the 'end of bipolarity' in the world.
(b) Which
were the member countries of ASEAN when it was formed in 1967?
Ans:- The
Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN was established on 8 August
1967 in Bangkok by the five original member states, namely Indonesia, Malaysia,
the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
(c) What is
the difference between Deterrence and Defence?
Ans:- Deterrence
means prevention of war; Defense means to limit or end the war; Balance of power
means that there should be a balance between big and small countries and
coalition building means alliance of states.
(d) Mention
any two areas or regions of the world known as Global Commons.
Ans:- International
law identifies four global commons, namely the high seas, the atmosphere,
Antarctica and outer space.
(e) Mention
two causes of Globalisation.
Ans. The
different factors that have facilitated the occurrence of globalization –
(i) Development
in the fields of science and technology.
(ii) Revolution
in information technology and electronic media.
(f) Mention
two economic consequences of Globalisation.
Ans:- The
economic consequences of globalization are -
(a)
Globalization has involved more and more trade in goods worldwide.
(b) The
restrictions imposed by various countries on allowing imports from other
countries have been reduced.
(g) Mention
two conceptions of Security.
Ans:- The
concepts of security can be divided into two i.e. traditional concept and
non-traditional concept.
(h) Mention
two areas of conflict between India and China.
Ans:- India
and China are involved in an international armed conflict over the control of
two key territories: Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin.
(i) Write
down the names of the Permanent Member States of Security Council of U.N.O.
Ans:- China,
The United States.
(j) Write two
constraints on American hegemony.
Ans:- US
hegemony is in today’s world means the dominance of US in spheres – military,
economic ideas of good life etc. The constraints an US are –
(i) The first
constraint is the institutional architectures of the American State itself. A
system of division of power between the three branches of government places
significant brakes upon the unrestrained and immoderate exercise of America’s
military power by the executive branch.
(ii) The
Second constraint is domestic is nature and stems from the open nature of
American Society. American mass media may from time to time impose or promote a
particular perspective on domestic public opinion in the US and they also keep
on eye over the methods of government.
