(i) Write two
causes of the downfall of the Harappan Civilization.
Ans:- There
were two reasons for the decline of the Harappan civilization:
(i) Flood and
earthquake.
(ii)
Deforestation.
(ii) Who were
the Prativedakas? Mention one duty of the Prativedakas.
Ans:- Kautilya's
Arthashastra mentions Pativedaka and Pulisani who acted as special
correspondents of the king. They used to inform the king about public opinion.
(iii) Give
two examples of right occupation.
Ans:- Business
is a one-person job. It is an activity in which a person engages in order to
earn livelihood or contribute to the society. Any type of work or job that
requires special skills, knowledge and expertise can be considered as a
business. For example, Artist, Entrepreneur, or Freelancer. It is an essential
part of a person's identity. It also affects their social status, income, and
overall quality of life.
(iv) Name the
four divisions of Kamrupa as mentioned in the Yogini Tantra.
Ans:- The
Yogini Tantra divides the entire Kamrup into Ratnapitha, Bhadrapitha,
Saumarapitha and Kamapitha.
(v) Give two
examples of Buranjis written in the Ahom period.
Ans:- Buranji
written in the Ahom period include Assam Buranji Sara, Ashinath Tamuli Phukan,
Ahom Buranji, Old Assam Buranji etc. Buranji is a class of historical
chronicles, books and manuscripts associated with the Ahom kingdom.
(vi) Name two
kinds of postal system in India.
Ans:- There
were two types of postal system in India. These were Uluq (horse post) and Dawa
(foot post).
(vii) What
were the two land revenue arrangements under the Mughals?
Ans:- There
were three methods of revenue collection during the Mughal administration –
Kankut, Rai and Zabti. Establishing a strong rule over the Indian subcontinent
for nearly 200 years, the Mughals created not only an empire with great
political power, but also a strong administrative system that provided the
impetus for smooth functioning.
(viii) Who
discovered the ruins of Hampi and when?
Ans:- It
was Colin Mackenzie who discovered the ruins of Hampi in 1800. The
Archaeological Survey of India still conducts many excavations to discover many
beautiful temples and other artefacts.
