Ans:- Importance of Food Pyramid:-
(i) Food
pyramid gives us dietary guidance: The advantage is that they provide
dietary guidance for everyone and have an easy to follow format. This
nutritious pattern shows an easy way to eat. It includes five groups, fruits,
vegetables, grains, proteins and dairy. It also helps you create healthy,
balanced meals.
(ii) Food
Pyramid helps us to improve our eating habits: Some people want to eat
nutritious food and become healthy but they do not know where to start. It
gives us guidelines on how to eat nutritious food. It also encourages us to eat
more fruits and vegetables.
(iii) Food
pyramid serves as a reminder: It reminds us which foods you should eat and
which foods you should avoid. The Food Pyramid is used as a food icon guide –
it provides more detailed guidance for everyone.
12. Suggest any four ways of conserving nutrients while
preparing food. 2
Ans:- These tips will help you preserve the nutrients of
food while cooking:-
(i) Ways to
preserve nutrients while cooking: Prolonged exposure to water, heat and
light can reduce the nutritional value of certain foods such as vitamin B1,
vitamin C and polyphenols.
(ii) Washing
rule: Always wash vegetables first and then cut. Chopping and then washing
takes away the nutrition from your food.
(iii) Do not
cut small: Do not cut vegetables into very small pieces as most of the
nutrients will be destroyed when exposed to air. The best way is to cut the
vegetable into large pieces.
(iv) Use of
water: Cook vegetables in less quantity of water. Nutrients are destroyed
by boiling in excess water. It is advisable to cover the vegetables in their
own water and cook them on low flame.

Ans:- Here are some ways to control air pollution:
(i) Reduce
driving.
(ii) Use public
transport.
(iii) Switch off
the lights when not in use.
(iv) Recycling
and reusing.
14. What are four symptoms of a person who is mentally
healthy? 2
Ans:- Some symptoms of a mentally healthy person are as
follows:
(i) Sense of
accomplishment: Doing things that make you feel accomplished or capable.
(ii)
Emotional stability: feeling calm and being able to manage emotions.
(iii)
Resilience: Ability to deal with the stresses of daily life.
(iv)
Optimism: Feeling positive about one's life and future.
15. Name any four diseases related to life style. 2
Ans:- Lifestyle diseases are non-communicable
diseases that are linked to a person's lifestyle. They are caused by long-term
exposure to modified lifestyle behaviors, such as: smoking, unhealthy diet,
physical inactivity.
Some examples
of lifestyle diseases include:
Heart disease,
stroke, cancer, diabetes, asthma, hypertension, obesity, atherosclerosis,
respiratory disease, type 2 diabetes.
