STORY WRITING
1. Outline: A king distressed - his people lazy - wanted
to teach them a lesson - put a big stone in the middle of the road - people
went around the stone - blamed the government for not removing it - king had it
removed - beneath it was an iron box marked " For the man who removes the
stone" - inside a purse full of money - the people were ashamed.

Clever King and His Lazy People
Once upon a time, a king ruled. He was very upset
because his people were very lazy and did not like to work. One day he wanted
to teach them a lesson. So he placed a big stone in the middle of the road so
that they could not pass through the road. On the other hand, the king was
hiding somewhere and watching the entire incident. Many people went to the
stone and blamed the king for not removing it.
After some time the king reached there and with
the help of his servants got it removed. There was an iron box below the mark
for the person removing the stones. There was also a purse full of money inside
the iron box. Eventually people became ashamed of their laziness.
Moral:
Tit for tat.
2. Outline: A slave runs away from his master – sees a
lion crying in pain – slave takes out the thorn from the lion’s paw – a few
months later the slave is caught – ordered to be thrown before a hungry lion –
the lion rushes him – licks his hands – remembers kindness – the lion and the
slave both set free.

The
Cruel Master
Once upon a time, a rich man lived in a village.
Many slaves worked in his house. One day one of his slaves made some mistake at
work. Other slaves informed this to the master. Hearing this the slave ran away
into the forest so that no one could catch him. While running in the forest he
saw a lion crying in pain. Then he stopped and went closer to the lion and saw
that a thorn was pierced in the lion's paw. He immediately pulled the hook.
After some time the lion felt relieved.
On the contrary, after a few months the slave was
captured and brought back to the owner. While punishing the slave, the master
ordered his men to throw him in front of a hungry lion. The lion pounced on him
first. But everyone was surprised when instead of hunting the slave, the lion
licked his hands. The lion remembered that this was the same man who had once
helped him. At last both the lion and the slave became free.
Lesson:
Love begets love.
3. Outline: The lion, king of beasts – kills many animals
– all animals terrified – hold a meeting – decide to send one animal to the
lion everyday – lion agrees – the turn of the hare – arrives late – tells there
is another lion in the forest – wanted to seize and kill him – hare takes the lion
to a deep well – the lion sees his reflection – thinks there is another lion in
the well – jumps in.

Once upon a time, there lived a very powerful and
ferocious lion in a forest. He declared himself the king of all the animals of
the forest. He also used to kill many animals every day while playing. As a
result all the animals in the forest became frightened. One day he decided to
meet the lion. It was decided in the meeting that one animal would be sent to
the lion every day. The lion agreed to that decision.
That cruel lion used to kill many animals every
day. One day it was the turn of a wise rabbit and he reached the lion's den
late. The lion became very angry and asked him the reason for the delay. The
rabbit told that another lion in the forest wants to catch and kill him.
Hearing this the lion became angry. He asked the rabbit to show him the other
lion. The rabbit took him to a deep well and said that the other lion was also
there. The lion looked into the well and saw his reflection. He thought that
there was another lion in the well and jumped into the well.
Moral:
Intelligence is power.
4. Outline: A car hits an old man and escapes – he is
injured badly – crowd gather on the spot - only show sympathy – they speak
about the evil of rash driving – nobody comes forward to help the injured man -
two school boys arrive – feel sorry for the old man - take him to hospital.

A Tragic Road Accident
One day an old man was going to the market to buy
some medicines. He had to cross a road. When he was crossing the road a car hit
him and ran away. The old man was badly injured. Due to which a crowd of people
gathered at the spot. He only expressed sympathy for the seriously injured
elder. He also told about the evils of rash driving but no one came forward to
help him.
On the other hand, two boys were returning home
from school. On the way he saw a crowd of people and immediately reached there.
He also saw that the old man was about to die. Moreover, he felt sorry for the
old man. Meanwhile they called an ambulance and eventually took him to a nearby
hospital for treatment.
Lesson:
Service to man is service to God.
5. Outline: Twelve fools start on a journey - cross a
river - count themselves - each not counting himself - counts eleven - a
passerby agrees to produce the lost man - gives each fool a blow - counts
twelve.

Once upon a time, twelve fools lived in a
village. They were all close friends. One day they decided to go on a trip and
fixed a date. On the way they found a river. They swam and crossed the river.
After crossing the river, the team leader told the others that they should
count themselves. Saying this he started counting. He got eleven. He was afraid
of losing one of his friends. Then they all counted themselves, but only eleven
came out. This happened because the man who was counting did not count himself.
So when they counted it was already eleven o'clock. This made him very sad and
started crying.
At the same time a stranger reached there. He
asked them what was the matter? He also told everything. The stranger then
agrees to locate the missing man. He told them not to cry and to stand in a row
one after the other. Then he gave each fool a blow and counted them out one by
one. Ultimately he made twelve men.
Moral:
Tit for tat.
6. Outline: Rainy weather - the wheels of a loaded cart
sinks into the mud - the carter whips the bullocks in vain - prays to God for
help - God comes disguised - asks the carter to put his shoulder to a wheel -
cart is freed.

Poor Carter
Once upon a time, a cart driver was driving his
loaded cart on a village road. The road was very muddy. The weather was rainy
when he was driving. Due to this the wheels of the car got stuck in the mud.
The cart driver felt helpless and whipped the oxen but to no avail. He tried
his best to take the wheels out of the mud. But he failed again and again. So
he looked for help but no one came forward to help him. Finding no way out,
Carter prayed to God to help him in his distress.
After some time, God took human form and came to
help the cart driver. The man asked the driver to put his shoulder on the
wheel. The driver complied and the vehicle was eventually freed.
Moral:
God helps the person who has no one to help.
7. Outline: A railway bridge gives away during heavy rain
- a train approaching - a boy sees the train - stands on the track - ignores
the warning whistles - waves his shirt - prevents the accident - rewarded for
his bravery.

Wise Boy
Once upon a time, a boy was walking on the
railway track. While walking the boy saw that a railway bridge had collapsed
during heavy rain. Meanwhile he saw that a train was coming towards the bridge
at high speed. They feared that a tragic accident would occur and many people
would lose their lives. He took immediate decisions to avert the impending
disaster and save the passengers. That's why he was standing on the track and
waving his shirt to stop the train.
The train driver saw this from a distance and
blew his whistle repeatedly to keep the boy away. But the boy ignored the
whistles. Eventually the driver stopped the train and asked the boy what had
happened. Then the boy told the driver about the broken bridge. At last the boy
was rewarded for his bravery.
Lesson:
Service to man is service to God.
8. Outline: A rickshaw-puller returns home at night -
finds a purse in his rickshaw - opens it - a lot of money and card with owner's
name - immediately returns it - offered a reward - rickshaw puller declines
saying - "I have only done my duty."

Honest Rickshaw-puller
There lived a rickshaw puller in some city. He
was also a very honest and gentlemanly person. He used to work as a rickshaw
puller throughout the day and return home at night.
One night while returning home he found a purse
in his rickshaw. They also found that it contained a lot of money and a card
with the owner's name and address on it. He immediately found the address of
the owner and returned the purse to him. Then the owner of the purse thanked
the rickshaw puller profusely for his honesty and gave him a reward. But the
rickshaw puller rejected the offer saying he was only performing his duty.
Moral:
Honesty is the best policy.
9. Outline: An English soldier taken prisoner by
Napoleon's forces - escaped from prison - tried to cross the English channel in
a cask - captured again and taken to Napoleon - was asked the reason for
escaping and risking his life - " To see my old and sick mother" was
the reply - Napoleon was moved - set him free.

Once Napoleon's army captured an English soldier
considering him a spy. He was mentally and physically tortured for a few days.
He was always thinking of a way to escape from Napoleon's army. One day he got
a chance and tried to cross the English Channel in a cask.
Unfortunately that soldier was captured again by
Napoleon's army. The British soldier was then taken to Napoleon for judgment.
Napoleon was extremely surprised to hear this. He also asked the British
soldier the reason for risking his life and running away. The British soldier
replied that he had not seen his mother for a week because she was old, sick
and alone at home. He also said that there was no one to take care of him
except him. Eventually Napoleon took pity on him and freed him.
Moral:
God helps the person who has no one to help.

Once upon a time, an old man had to go to the
city for some important work. She was waiting for the bus at the stop. After
some time, a packed bus arrived there and she boarded the bus. He saw that
there was no space in the bus and many passengers were standing. So she too was
standing like many other passengers. Suddenly the bus took a sharp turn and the
woman lost her balance. He lost his balance and hit someone and caused serious
injury to himself.
On the other side, a young boy was watching her
for some time. He felt pity for the old woman. He also wanted to help him.
Finally he stood up from his seat and offered his seat to the woman.
Lesson:

12. Outline: Poor cobbler lives happily - works hard and
sings - rich neighbour unhappy - envies the cobbler - gives the cobbler a bag
of gold - now the cobbler loses sleep - returns the gold - becomes happy again
- moral.

Once upon a time, there lived a poor cobbler in a
village. He worked with honesty and integrity and sang with joy. On the other
hand, the cobbler worked on the footpath from morning till night. He had a rich
neighbor who owned a lot of property. Moreover, the neighbor was very unhappy
with the cobbler. The neighbor realized that the cobbler's poverty was the
reason for his sadness whereas the cobbler was happy, carefree and happy.
One day the rich neighbor donated a big bag full
of gold to the cobbler. He also asked the cobbler not to sing the song and to
leave his work. Then the cobbler took that bag to his home and kept it under
his bed. As a result the cobbler became worried and had to spend sleepless
nights because of his property. At last the cobbler returned the bag of gold to
the rich neighbor and rejoined his happiness.
13. Outline: On my way to school - suddenly the screech
of tyres - a bus hit an auto rickshaw - informed the police - the police
arrived - the ambulance arrived - the crowd dispersed.

One day I was going to school on foot. While
going to school, suddenly I heard the sound of tires a few yards behind. Then I
saw that the bus which passed me at high speed hit an auto rickshaw. As a
result, two passengers and the driver of the auto rickshaw died on the spot and
several others were seriously injured.
During this time a huge crowd of people gathered
at the spot. He showed sympathy only towards the dead and seriously injured. He
also gave a speech on rash driving but no one came forward to help the injured
people. Then I took a cell phone from someone and informed the police about the
accident. The police immediately reached there and called an ambulance. Then
the dead and seriously injured people were taken to the hospital. Eventually
the police dispersed the crowd of people to clear the road.

14. Outline: A house catches fire - people try to put out
the fire with buckets of water, sand, etc. - they fail - a small boy runs to
his friend who has a mobile phone - Fire Brigade arrives - the fire is put out
- people praise the boy's presence of mind.

One day suddenly a house caught fire in some
city. During this time a huge crowd of people gathered at the spot. He made
several attempts to extinguish the fire. They threw buckets of water, sand etc.
into the fire. But it was absolutely impossible to extinguish the fire. It was
spreading very fast.
A little boy was standing there watching the red
flames go up. Suddenly, he ran to his friend who had a mobile phone and called
the fire brigade. Within some time two fire brigades reached the spot. He soon
extinguished the fire. The people present there soon realized how the little
boy had called the fire brigade. He greatly admired the boy's intelligence.
Moral:
Intelligence is power.
15. Develop a short story with the following hints. Give
a suitable title.
Two cats steal
a cake - they quarrel over their share they ask a monkey for making two equal
divisions of the cake — cats are deceived.

Once upon a time, two cats lived in a city. They
were very close friends. One day both of them together stole a cake from a shop
in the town. After stealing the cake, there was a fierce fight between the two
over their share.
Meanwhile, his eyes fell on a monkey sitting on
the branch of a nearby tree. He decided to ask the monkey to divide it into two
equal parts. Then the monkey agreed to do so. The monkey willingly cut the cake
into two pieces – one big and the other small. Then he ate the bigger one and
reduced the smaller one. In this way the monkey ate the entire cake in front of
them. Eventually they left from there.
