1. Answer the following:
(a) Write very short answer to the following: 1x4=4
(i) What is Mental Age (MA)? 1
Ans:- Mental age (MA) is a measure of a
person's mental ability and level of mental maturity. It is a concept related
to intelligence and is based on how a person performs intellectually compared
to the average for his or her age.
(ii) What is Self-concept? 1
Ans:- Self-concept is a person's
collection of beliefs about themselves. It is a comprehensive view of who we
are, encompassing our physical, mental, social, and spiritual selves.
Self-concept is composed of self-schemas, and includes past, present, and
future selves.
(iii) Define Delusion. 1
Ans:- A delusion is a false belief that
is not changed by compelling evidence. Illusions can be classified into four
types:-
(i) Mood-neutral delusions: Not related
to the emotional state of the patient
(ii) Illusion of control: The false
belief that another person, group, or force controls one's thoughts, feelings,
impulses, or behaviors
(iv) What is Attitude? 1
Ans:- Attitudes are a person's feelings,
beliefs, and behavior toward a person, object, thing, or event. Attitudes are
often the result of experience or upbringing.

(i) Giftedness is
exceptional general ability shown in superior performance in a wide variety of
areas. 1
(ii) Hallucinations are
the perceptions that occur in the absence of external stimuli. 1

modification techniques. 1
2. Write short answers to the following

(a) What is Intelligence Quotient (IQ)? 2
Ans:- In 1912, William Stern, a German
psychologist, coined the concept of Intelligence Quotient (IQ). IQ refers to
mental age divided by chronological age multiplied by 100. IQ = ´ 100.
(b) Name any two projective techniques used for personality
assessment. 2
Ans:- Projective techniques are
psychological assessments that aim to uncover unconscious thoughts, feelings,
and motivations. They often involve presenting individuals with ambiguous
stimuli and asking them to interpret or respond to them.
Here are two commonly used projective techniques for personality
assessment:-
(i) Rorschach Inkblot Test: This test
consists of 10 cards, each of which contains an inkblot of an ambiguous object
that the examinee is asked to describe.
(ii) Sentence Completion Test: This test
makes use of a number of incomplete sentences. The starting part of the
sentence is first presented and the subject has to provide an ending to the
sentence.
(c) What is sentence completion test? 2
Ans:- A Sentence Completion Test (SCT)
is a semi-structured projective technique that helps psychologists and other
professionals explore their clients' needs, internal conflicts, and more. The
test is commonly used to evaluate personality.
(d) What are the daily hassles? 2
Ans:- Daily hassles are small, recurring
events that occur throughout the day and directly result in stress. Some
examples of daily hassles include: -
Housework, lost belongings, workload, noisy environment, quarrelsome
neighbours, lack of electricity and water, traffic jams.
Noisy environment, quarrelsome neighbours, lack of electricity and
water, traffic jams etc. are the everyday problems that we have to deal with.
The more stressed people are as a result of daily hassles, the poorer their
mental health.
(e) State the symptoms of stress. 2
Ans:- Some symptoms of stress include:-
(i) Physical symptoms: aches and pains,
chest pain, fatigue, headache, dizziness, trembling limbs, high blood pressure,
stiff jaw, muscle tension, stomach or digestive problems
(ii) Anxiety: increased heart rate,
difficulty in breathing, feeling nervous
(iii) Depression: When you feel
overwhelmed and stressed, your brain produces less serotonin, which is
responsible for regulating your mood.
(iv) Insomnia: When stressed, our body
is in a state of high alert, which can make it difficult to relax and fall
asleep.
(f) What is social stress? 2
