2. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words. 2

(a) Recycling rubbish not only helps save money, it also helps the environment. In view of this, mention four advantages of recycling to justify your answer. (See Lesson-20)

Ans:- Recycling waste not only saves money, but also benefits the environment. Given this, four advantages of recycling can be cited to justify the answer:-

(i) Conservation of natural resources: Recycling helps conserve natural resources by reducing the need to extract and process raw materials. This is especially important for non-renewable resources, which are limited and can take millions of years to form. By recycling, we can extend the life of these resources and reduce the environmental impact of their extraction.

(ii) Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: Recycling reduces the energy needed to make new products from raw materials. This reduction in energy consumption reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change. For example, recycling aluminium cans requires 95% less energy than making new aluminium from raw materials.

(iii) Less waste in landfills: Recycling helps reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, which can pollute soil and water. By recycling, we can divert waste from landfills and reduce the risk of environmental pollution.

(iv) Job creation and economic benefits: Recycling also has economic benefits. It creates jobs in the recycling industry and generates revenue through the sale of recyclable materials. It can contribute to local economic growth and development.

These benefits show that recycling not only helps the environment but also has significant economic benefits.

(b) Caring and loving allows you to have empathy for others and to live a life of love, compassion and togetherness. How do love and care help bind people together? (See Lesson-17)

Ans:- Love and caring help bind people together by promoting empathy, compassion and a sense of unity.

Here are some ways in which love and caring contribute to strong relationships:-

(i) Empathy: When we care for others, we are more likely to understand and share their feelings, which helps to build deeper connections and stronger bonds.

(ii) Compassion: The compassion that arises from caring for others encourages us to be kind and considerate, creating a more supportive and loving environment.

(iii) Communication: Caring and loving relationships involve active listening, honesty and respect, which are essential components of healthy communication. This helps to prevent misunderstandings and strengthen bonds between individuals.

(iv) Trust and respect: When we care for others, we are more likely to trust and respect them, which is important for building strong and lasting relationships.
