Lencho was shattered after the destruction caused by the hailstorm. Lencho's soul was filled with sadness. He said that they would have no corn that year and they would go hungry.

Ans:- Lencho's crops were ready for harvest. However, they required a good downpour before harvesting. After a downpour, he could sell the harvest and get money. That is why he compared the raindrops to 'new coins'.

Ans:- Lencho compares the raindrops were like new coins because the raindrops help him to grow and harvest the crops, which results in more prosperity. These fully grown crops could be sold in market for good money. Hence, he considers raindrops to new coins.

Ans:- Lencho's house was situated in a valley. It was the only house in the entire valley and' was on the crest of a low hill.

Ans:- Lencho's only hope was the help of God.

10. What did Lencho do throughout the morning? What did he see in the north-east? [HSLC - 2018]

Ans:- Throughout the morning Lencho sat in his house and waited for the rain to come. He wished for the rain or the shower for his field in which he had grown his crops. The rain would help his crops to get prepared for their harvest. He saw the sky in the North-east. He assumed that they would be getting a good rain that day. This would help his crops to grow more effectively.

11. 'Lencho's soul was filled with sadness'. Why? [HSLC - 2018]

Ans:- Lencho's soul was filled with sadness because his crops was totally destroyed by hailstones. Not a leaf remained on the trees. The corn was totally destroyed.

12. What did lencho write in his letter to God? [HSLC - 2019]

Ans:- Lencho wrote the letter to God as he thought that he would be the only one to help him in his bad times. He wrote a letter addressing to God to send him 100 pesos so that he and his family can survive in such a difficult situation.
